“HE is Risen!!!”\u00a0 When we sent each of our children this message today, many replied, “HE is Risen, Indeed!!!”\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Our alarm was set for 4:30 am this morning to get up in time to attend the Resurrection Day sunrise service at 6 am being held at Seru Largu.\u00a0 At 5:30 am as we drove to the church, we noticed the mass of cars still parked along the beaches, where so many were camping.\u00a0 Virginia commented, “Do you think we should honk our horn as we pass?”\u00a0 [There is always plenty of honking as drivers pass our duplex, but I resisted the temptation!]\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We drove to the church and rode the bus.\u00a0 Amado Felix drove one of his Achie Tours buses. \u00a0I decided it was too dark to find and drive the shorter back road to Seru Largo.<\/p>\n

The sunrise service included a lot of inspirational songs with pastor Doug Searle accompanying with his guitar.\u00a0 He also gave a short devotional.\u00a0 The sky was cloudy so there was not a good view of the sun coming up.\u00a0 It sprinkled lightly for a couple of minutes, but not enough to get us wet.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Following the service, we rode the bus back to the International Bible Church (http:\/\/bonaireibc.org<\/a>) for a potluck breakfast.\u00a0 There were lots of breads, cheese, coffee cakes and fruit salads.\u00a0 Virginia made some blueberry bread and cut up the watermelon, we bought a few days ago, into slices and took them.\u00a0 Yes, the watermelon had seeds, but it was sweet with good flavor.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The 9 am worship service was well attended.\u00a0 Many of the well-known Resurrection hymns were sung.\u00a0 The message, as expected, was on the Resurrection and its implications for us.\u00a0 I came away with these points to ponder:<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>“The Law is designed to defeat you, so that you will seek a Savior”<\/p>\n

“Jesus was fully man, the only perfect human.\u00a0 Our humanity is broken by sin.”<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>After the service, snacks and drinks are usually available.\u00a0 Today the leftover breakfast items were left out.\u00a0 Most everything was eaten up, including Virginia’s bread and watermelon.\u00a0 We also took this opportunity to chatfor a while with Amado and Sue Felix, mainly about old times and mutual acquaintances over the years.\u00a0 They specifically asked about Rich West, who works with us in Elkhart.\u00a0 Felix and Sue are in their 70s and still working hard with their businesses, which include Achie Tours (for tourists and the cruise ships that come to Bonaire) and transportation services.<\/p>\n

We came back to the duplex for a light lunch.\u00a0 When the visitor staying in the other duplex came back from his lunch, we spent some time visiting.\u00a0 John Hull works at a Christian radio station in the Houston area and is here to assist TWR with some programming ideas.\u00a0 He also brought 60 small concrete anchor bolts that we needed to finish fastening components to the floor of the phasor room.<\/p>\n

In late afternoon, we had a meal of leftover nasi goreng.\u00a0 We did go for a quick cool-down swim at Bachelor Beach.<\/p>\n

Later we had popcorn, which is our Sunday evening staple at home.\u00a0 I also called my mother in Colorado, which is my Sunday evening ‘ritual’ at home.\u00a0 But from overseas, we use Skype to call her phone directly.\u00a0 Cost is only about $0.02 per minute.<\/p>\n

Tomorrow is also a public holiday in Bonaire (for that matter, much of the rest of the world) so the alarm will not be set again.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
