{"id":74,"date":"2008-10-08T06:33:20","date_gmt":"2008-10-08T13:33:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swaziland2008.mcguireclan.org\/?p=74"},"modified":"2014-06-01T13:21:52","modified_gmt":"2014-06-01T18:21:52","slug":"day-3-at-the-transmitter-site","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mcguirereport.mcguireclan.org\/?p=74","title":{"rendered":"Day 3 at the Transmitter Site"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This morning I woke with the feeling that jet lag might finally be over!<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_132\" style=\"width: 235px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/mcguirereport.mcguireclan.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/hanssteveklaus1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-132\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-132\" title=\"hanssteveklaus1\" src=\"https:\/\/mcguirereport.mcguireclan.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/hanssteveklaus1-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Hans Steve, and Klaus (front-to-back)\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-132\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hans Steve, and Klaus (front-to-back)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Today Klaus started to retighten all the connections to the SSM modules and, with additional help later from Hans and Steve,\u00a0was about 3\/4 done by the end of the day.\u00a0 I installed the shims under the lower trim pieces, the trim pieces that go each side of the hallway\u00a0and the cover plates and air filters for the air plenum (after making\u00a0a correction in the way the air plenum pieces had been previously assembled).\u00a0 Assembly is nearly done except for installing the doors and connecting the water lines to the auxiliary &#8216;radiators&#8217;.\u00a0 This will wait until the transmission lines are completed to prevent damage to the doors from working<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_134\" style=\"width: 280px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/mcguirereport.mcguireclan.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/salemabongani.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-134\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-134 \" title=\"salemabongani\" src=\"https:\/\/mcguirereport.mcguireclan.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/salemabongani-300x291.jpg\" alt=\"Salema and Bongani working on feedline\" width=\"270\" height=\"262\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-134\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Salema and Bongani working on feedline<\/p><\/div>\n<p>overhead and\/or tripping over the water lines while the Swazi crew\u00a0continues working on the transmission line duct.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_146\" style=\"width: 226px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/mcguirereport.mcguireclan.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/impala24.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-146\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-146  \" title=\"impala24\" src=\"https:\/\/mcguirereport.mcguireclan.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/impala24-300x220.jpg\" alt=\"Impala\" width=\"216\" height=\"158\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-146\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Impala<\/p><\/div>\n<p>On the way to the site this morning we came across a &#8216;herd&#8217; of at least eight impala on the road.\u00a0 A day or so earlier we had seen a duiker in about the same location.\u00a0 Steve pointed out later that the impala were on TWR property.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_149\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/mcguirereport.mcguireclan.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/guineafl.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-149\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-149\" title=\"guineafl\" src=\"https:\/\/mcguirereport.mcguireclan.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/guineafl-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Guinea Fowl\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-149\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Guinea Fowl<\/p><\/div>\n<p>As we got closer to the site, we saw a large &#8216;flock&#8217; of guinea fowl in the cleared area around the antennas.\u00a0 Since the last 8.5 kilometers of road is gravel and runs through a ranch, we are always seeing cattle in the road (or evidence of them having been there!).\u00a0 Dodging this evidence can be a real test of one&#8217;s driving skills!!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This morning I woke with the feeling that jet lag might finally be over!
