Rain, lovely rain. It was a nice slow soaking drizzle most of the day. It didn’t seem like a lot of rain, but I sure got wet taking care of the chickens and collecting some things from the guest house to use in this house.
Since it was rainy, but not too rainy, I decided to take pictures of flowers for our granddaughter, Megan. She wanted to see pictures of flowers. This is not the best time of year for flowers, but I found some! A few I can identify, most not. So if you know the names of the flowers, please comment .
- White poinsettia.
- Strelitzia, or bird-of- paradise or crane flower. There are several in the garden.
- A simple beautiful God made bouquet.
- Granadilla blossom. Tasty fruit from this vine.
- Lavender bougainvillea. Bougainvillea are often used for hedges for privacy as well as for their beautiful flowers. They like to climb and will climb over any plant or fence or tree. They have spiky thorns which also makes them good to have along a fence line.
- These are some pretty yellow flowers I found. I like their ‘bell’ shape.
- Another interesting flower. It looks like one butterflies and humming birds would like.
- This is a white poinsettea. It is quite tall! Not too many blooms at the moment.
- Red and lavender bougainvillea by the front fence.
- Okay, I know this is not a flower. It is the fruit of a very small lemon tree. Missed the flower stage.
- Rose. There are quite a few different types of roses in the garden and lots of colors. I thought this one was very pretty.
- Hibiscus. This is a pretty colored one. There are quite a few of these in the garden, but I think they must be nearing the end of bloom time. Very pretty flowers.
- These geranium are planted by the side of the house. They last more than one season outside.
- I think this might be a type of iris. It is very pretty. Can’t imagine that the groupings of three all happened by accident some time or other .
So beautiful!
So nice to see some flowers! There are some nice flowers here too.
We had such a soft flight here. God is so good. It is sure hot here. We travel to Parakou tomorrow.
Lorraine, So thankful that you had a good flight. Praying for a continued safe trip.
Thank you for your reports from I think Africa
Yes, Ron, it is Swaziland, Africa.
I have 4 or 5 favorite flowers and you have pretty much all of them in your garden. How incredibly wonderful! Red Bougainville , hibiscus, (not to be cheesy but …) I really love roses, orange blossoms (it’s been too long now, but I think lemon blossoms smell similar), and wisteria (which I did not see but perhaps they are somewhere ;-)…. Oooh I also love those begonias that look like roses lol. Anyhoo is probably be picking flowers left and right ;-). We had lots of birds of paradise on my campus in school. I recommend adding some googly eyes to them. Lol then they really look like birds.
Loveing al the photos you’re posting! Miss you!!!
Ha ha, I like all those you mentioned. It is hard to choose one favorite. Depends on when, where and what it will be used for. They are all beautiful in a garden. That would be fun to put googly eyes on the birds of paradise just before the people come home, or when there are guests coming through the door by them.
Love you and miss you.
Wow… So many typos… Smh sorry 😳
